‘DREAM COMING TRUE’ FOR GOV ABDULRAZAQ AS KWARA TRUST FUND BANKROLLS SECONDARY EDUCATION OF 12 OUTSTANDING PUPILS IN UNITY SCHOOL
September 17, 2025The Kwara State Education Trust Fund (KwaraETF) has released the results of its 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) scholarship beneficiaries, highlighting both outstanding achievements and areas that require urgent support.
Out of 180 pupils sponsored to write the NCEE, several emerged with exceptional scores – including pupils from Kaiama, Ekiti, and Patigi LGAs – proving the potential that exists when children are given the right opportunities. The top scorer achieved 131 point, standing as a testament to resilience, dedication, and the impact of Kwara’s education reforms.
At the same time, the results revealed sharp differences across local government areas, with some communities recording significantly lower averages. These disparities reflect the challenges families and school face in sustaining learning outcomes amid rising economic pressures.
“This initiative proves what we have always believed – that brilliance is evenly distributed across Kwara, but opportunity is not. Our task is to close the gap and ensure no child is left behind because of where they come from or their family’s financial situation”, Zainab Abdulsalam, KwaraETFs program manager said in a statement.
The KwaraETF scholarship initiative builds on the reforms of KwaraLEARN, which has transformed teaching and learning across the state’s public primary schools. With this first cohort of NCEE candidates, the program is ensuring that the gains at primary level are sustained into secondary education.
Already, contributions from partners and doners are making it possible for some pupils to have their entire six years of secondary education fully covered – including tuition, books, and uniforms. But many more bright children are still waiting for that same opportunity.
